Warren S. Rapoport is a partner with Gardiner Roberts LLP, specializing in commercial, employment, pension, estate and telecommunications litigation, as well as matters before the Ontario Racing Commission and the Ontario Municipal Board. He is a member of the Dispute Resolution Practice Group. Warren joined Gardiner Roberts LLP in September, 2004.
Warren is often sought out by executives and executive groups with respect to employment issues and complex pension matters. He also has significant experience successfully representing clients in partnership, shareholder and competition disputes, as well as real estate matters (including mortgage issues, appraisers’ negligence, commercial leasing matters and adverse possession).
Warren’s pension experience includes dealing with surplus and merger issues in multi-million dollar matters, including Dominion Stores, Eaton’s, Hudson Bay, Cooper Canada and National Steel Car Pension Plans. He is also retained by several multi-national corporations, as well as entrepreneurial and family businesses. With respect to telecommunications, he represents a major provider in the North American market on various complicated contractual disputes.
When Warren graduated from the Bar, he began his career as a law clerk to the justices of the Superior Court of Justice, and assisted in the multi-billion dollar mining case of Corona vs. Lac, with the Honorable Mr. Justice R.E. Holland for the duration of the six-month trial. That judgment was upheld all the way to the Supreme Court of Canada.
Warren also teaches alternative dispute resolution at the Bar Admission course and is an accredited arbitrator of the Arbitration Institute of Ontario. He has been retained as a mediator in commercial matters, and is an invited speaker at employment and pension law conferences.
